Sustainability Leadership with Global Impact

Sustainability Leadership with Global Impact

Climate change… Conservation… Individual responsibility… The fate of future generations.  Each individual, company or organization has its own take on environmental sustainability. Regardless of your vantage point, preserving our planet’s natural resources is simple common sense.

Environmental awareness has spawned a generation of new ideas and new ways of doing business that are positively impacting the environment.  In the business sector, companies are racing to put into place environmentally-sustainable business practices that help the planet, appeal to consumers, reduce costs and boost efficiency.

As an example, take a look at the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector.  The fast moving consumer goods industry is a $2.1 billion business in the U.S. alone.  It takes considerable effort to supply manufacturers with the inputs they need and to move their product to market.  As a global supply chain solutions provider, CHEP has a prominent role in the CPG marketplace and uses its global reach and expertise to provide its clients with innovative, sustainable solutions.

For instance, working with our parent company, Brambles, CHEP has developed achievable sustainability goals for the year 2020.  The goals are organized into three categories – Better Planet, Better Business and Better Communities.  Specifically, we seek:

  • + Zero Deforestation
  • + Zero Emissions
  • + Zero Waste
  • + A Safer Workplace
  • + A More Diverse Leadership Team
  • + An Increase in Global Food Security

These goals build upon the progress Brambles and CHEP made in sustainability from 2010 to 2015. During that time, the company reduced carbon emissions by 20%, sourced 97% of its wood from certified sources, reduced wood waste by 75%, contributed $1.45 million to 100 food banks and saved 1.38 million trees.

One compelling aspect of our sustainability goals – they are aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.  When companies and organizations around the world collaborate and focus their joint effort on shared goals, the result is even more impactful.

CHEP operates on the basis of a culture of continuous improvement and a desire to serve its customers better, faster and more completely than ever before.  Our sustainable solutions not only make CHEP a better company, their impact is multiplied dramatically because of the role we play as a global supply chain solutions provider.

From reducing 4.5 million empty truck miles and eliminating 23 million pounds of climate-change-inducing carbon dioxide in the last nine months alone, CHEP provides its customers with the sustainability and efficiency solutions that help them meet their goals.
